you can replace the brake line your self just go to the library and get a repair manuel it's not hard. and this one is for thumper the compression fittings are designed for the brake and other high pressure applications I have been using them for 45 years with no ill effects if you know how to tork them down there's nothing wrong with them

On the drivers side the brake line is rusted out in the middle and needs replaced. Right now the guy I bought it off of put a compression fitting on it as temp fix to drive it to the shop. I spoke to a mechanic we knew and he told me it should be around $200.00 or less depending if the bleeders are bad. What about if the bleeders are bad how much more expensive can the job get?

along with the other answers, as a temporary fix, lots of folks have used the compression fitting for repairs. It is usually advised that once you have to resort to this fix, think about replacing that brake line somewhat soon. it can fail again due to the rust condition already present. (it anit no fun when it goes again) But most of the time, one has the time to save up the needed $$ for a more perminate repair this way

Now for the $64 question. if One line was rusty enough to need repair/replace, It is probably a REAL good idea to examine the rest of the brake lines to see if they are like that also.

Ok, the bleeder question, the brake lines either go into a disk brake caliper or a drum brake wheel cylinder, that's where the bleeders are, they can sometimes rust shut, and when serviced the hex head part can strip, if it is at all possible to get the old bleeder out, then the $$ to replace them is minimal. IF the bleeder problem means a new caliper or wheel cylinder, that's where the $$ stars to climb fast.

where do people get off putting a compression fitting on ant brake line ? i've see this on other people's questions . this mechanic needs to go back to school . any way with that said the brake line can be found a any auto parts store for about 20.00 to 25.00 dollars . the brake bleeders can also be purchased there. i would measure the line from point a to b and buy the right length . then buy the bleeders and find another mechanic who wont ripe you off on the labor job shouldn't take more than an hour. please be careful driving it until its fix right.

you can buy brake line at many parts stores and replace it your self seem like you know about what your doing already they make a fairing tool you can buy as well and harder too id just measure line and see if you can buy that or just get a whole line

how to replace rusted brake line
