I saw this on the news a couple of days ago and I haven't seen anyone make a thread about it.

Apparently during Duma votes it is fairly common for Russian MPs to run around and vote for other MPs who are not present. I found it to be a rather interesting look into Russian democratic methods.

Uh, my point is that Russian democracy is a bit of a joke.

Nothing shocking I know, but the video evidence of it simply makes it all the more apparent / damning.

No worse than our politicians taking bribes.

Russia is new to democracy, the US, not so much. Our standards are much higher than theirs, and our politicians are worse than theirs.

At least their politicians have the balls to crush terrorists and pirates. Can't say the same about barack "pussy" obama.

I seem to remember Obama giving the go ahead for military action against Somali pirates when American lives were at stake there champ.

And Russia's idea of "dealing" with terrorists crosses the line with things such as the Grozny massacre and massive abuses against human rights including widespread collective punishment practices, torture, indiscriminate killing of civilians, and forced disappearances. Not something that the US should exactly aspire to.

Our idea of dealing with the pirates is capture, then release without charges.

Russia's: put them on a boat thousands of miles off land with no supplies, and let them fend for themselves.

I see nothing wrong with beating, torturing and executing terrorists. Nothing at all. Then again, I'm not soft like you.

Strong nations need strong leaders. Russia has theirs in Putin. Do you think Putin would allow the president of Mexico to publicly disrespect Russia in Moscow? No. barack "pussy" obama can't bow, apologize, and kneel fast enough to our enemies.

Where are the Gitmo protesters? Why isn't Gitmo closed? Where are the Iraq war protesters? Why aren't we out of Iraq? Where is our hope and change? Wasn't the unemployment rate supposed to be stopped at 8% with the stimulus package?

All countries do it in their own way.
I'd hardly call the way we spread democracy to Iraq as a particularly enlightened method.
Russia has extremist muslim states where terrorism and criminal gangs are rampant. If they were coming in to my country killing people, I'd expect the government come down hard on them.
The Texas legislature operates in the same way as the Duma, and probably lots of other places, if someone's away from their seat, first to the voting button gets it.

We went in weapons hot their sport.

There is nothing soft about disagreeing with the indiscriminate killing of civilians.

I think it's rather cute that you just so happen to leave out the more serious charges of torture, beating and executions, not of terrorist but of civilians as well, as well as things such as the Grozny and other massacres (which Russia has been found guilty of internationally) and things such as collective punishment practices and the use of cluster munitions in areas of dense civilian populations.

You're a joke, and you know jack shit about what you are talking about.

And what happened in Texas is likewise a disappointment, I don't see why it should in any way subtract from the seriousness of this occuring in the federal legislature of Russia.

Multinational corporations have taken over the federal government and lobby groups control US foreign policy.
What's the difference.
