I dont usually do cardio before my workout (well, maybe a few pushups and crunches) :D and i was wondering if running with a backpack with weights in it (6-10 kg) would help me build some muscle mass (especially in the arms or shoulders)...or would it only make me extremely exhausted? have you ever tried this? but running with wrist weights? does this help building some muscles? :D

thank you :) and sorry for my bad english :D

Have you ever seen professional footballers or other athletes train - notice the absense of weights, As Lloyd Grossman once said "The clues are there".

If nature had inteded you to run with heavy weights around your wrist then we'd all have heavy hands.

Running with backpacks is just plain wrong. Compounded spinal problems will occur before you see any muscle benefits.

Running is about cardio benefits, weight training is about muscle strengh and endurance - NEVER THE 'TWAIN SHALL MEET.
