I run in place, inside my home, because of family and other constraints, and I still want to get exercise. I am fairly overweight, and need to get on some sort of regiment. Anyway, My floors are concrete with thin carpeting. I run in place 15 minutes, and when I am done, the area on my legs above the ankles but below the calves usually turns red on both legs, and if I push much past 15 minutes, it swells a little. When I stop, it goes away in a few minutes. It hurts a little, and itches a little, but I never suffer long-term affects. My question is: Why is this happening? Is it my weight? Is it the hard surface? I don't want to stop exercising. Does anyone have any answers? Thanks.
