And if the first words out of the Customers mouth when we call them or knock on the Door, is verbal abuse, we will walk away.

I for one do not get paid to take crap like; From anyone.

After that, we would pass it back to Express Vu, it would then be upto them to get an installer from out of area for you, if at all.

Most installs that I have seen that use the existing cable box simply cut the lines feeding into the house. The cable company may own the line to the house and the box, but typically that is as far as they go. The rest of the wiring is yours to use as you please.

Using the existing house wiring often makes for a faster, cleaner install. If you force the installer to run new lines you may end up with extra holes in the walls and cabling without wall plates.

If they/you use good quality barrel connectors, good RG6 cable and proper connectors, you should not see any perceivable signal loss by joining segments together.

Often, beside the cable box is a good place to mount the switch or mult-switch, although I prefer them to be inside. I had all my cables rerouted to come into the house underground to the electrical panel (phone, dsl, cable, sat).
 
Okay..i talked to a satellite installer..and he said that the Rogers box is legally their property and to tamper with it itself is illegal...however, what they normally do is to cut the rg6 feeds off at the box...connect the satellite feeds in with connectors and voila....everything should work nicely
 
actully, the 2 can co-exist together. Cable runs a 5 to 1000Mhz frequency while satellite uses about 2200 to 2450mhz. There are diplexers that allow a DC passthrough of the sat signal while combining a cable signal. You bassicaly need this splitter at both ends, one to join the 2 and the other end to seperate.
 
Although that would work for a total swap of service provider, the OP in this case will be keeping cable for internet. The two service providers will therefore need to coexist and therefore using the cables inside the cable box for satellite services will be problematical.

The use of any cabling inside the home would certainly be possible, if the cabling is of acceptable quality for the run length, as previously discussed. The satellite installer could tie into those cables, if, as in most houses, they come to a central point at the "fuse box"/service panel, rather than at the cable box.

At this point we have not heard back from the OP...
 
dosbourne you are correct it does make for a faster cleaner installation BUT if Express Vu inspect the installation, they will have the Tech return and run ALL NEW cables.

Even if the home owner does not want this they try to insist on it.

Same with the ridiculous way cables must be clipped to the side of your house. They cannot under any circumstance by tywrapped to a down spout, again even if this is what the customer wants.....
