So let me get this straight, an American Idol semi-finalist voicing a Clannad character? Well, isn't that interesting.

Does Sentai Filmworks own the rights to Channed now? If it does that might be one of the companies two planned dubs.

Ok I just checked Santai Film works does own the rights at least for Clanned after story. They also own the rights to LegenRAB of the Dark King. I think we just found out which of their shows they are planning on dubbing.

Wait... dub... now?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!

I already bought the whole series subbed (both Clannad and Clannad After Story over 4 boxsets) from Sentai Filmworks and NOW they have a dub?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about it getting a dub but dang it that was a lot of money and I really can't justify buying the whole thing again especially since the dub DVRAB will probably cost more.

If they pull this with Gintama, I will rage far more. Though I guess probably not since I already decided I probably wont bother with the sub only release of that.

Some Clannad fans are tough to please. They complain for a year demanding a dub or dubs in general from the company, then at the first sign there might be hope, they aren't satisfied.

Sentai has always had the position if their sub-only titles do well, they might consider dubbing it... depending on the viability and demand. If it sells well, they may consider it. If it's a niche or expensive production on a risky title they'll take the conservative position - Matt Greenfield talked about at Nebraskon 09 in the late fall, about dubs while increasing sales are not often enough to make a release profitable.

At ACEN 09 Matt Greenfield said: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/convention/2009/anime-central/adv-films-and-sentai-filmworks

Now that's hardly fair. I did say I'm glad it might be getting a dub. It just frustrates me to no end that to enjoy said dub I'll have to buy it again. That's pretty lowsy given if I had the choice to begin with I would have opted for a release including a dub.

It's not like I bought the first season right when it came out either. I waited quite a while before giving up on a dub happening and later bought After Story when they were released rather than wait any further.

I know they can't judge the market on some of these titles and they may intially feel it's not worth making a dub but if this becomes a common trend it will be quite annoying. No reason to believe it will become a common trend but I will make my feelings clear on the matter regardless.

If it does get a dub I'll decided whether or not (most likely depending on the price) if buying the series again is worth having a dub. I suppose for all I know I may not even find the dub to my liking which is certainly possible so I hope there's some manner to see it before I spend more money on collecting this particular series.

And if it does get a dub I'll be thrilled if it gets the show more exposure because I think a lot of people would enjoy this show if they gave it a chance.

But don't get the idea that I'm ungreatful. I'm happy to have a release period. It just would have been nice if they planned this better. Maybe then I wouldn't even have to think about buying the same show twice.

Also if this does happen it gives me another reason not to buy the sub only DVD of GinTama, because what I want is a dub and if there is a chance a dub will come later I will wait for it.

Fair enough.

I do see where you're coming from, certainly, and I think it'll be one of the many challenges Sentai Filmworks and Section23 Films will be looking into when deciding how they move forward with whatever they are doing.

We know for sure that Sentai are dubbing 2 titles, since that's what Matt Greenfield stated during the 2 fall conventions. What those are, officially, who knows... we'll have to wait and see what exactly their strategy holRAB.

Lack of a dub is pretty much the main reason why I haven't plunged yet, so if true, this is good news. I mean, I won't avoid sub only titles, but Kanon's ADV dub was quite good and so if Clannad were done as well, that would be a treat.
