This noise happens when stationary and the engine is on. coming from the rear drivers tyre area. It is not a wheel bearing/exhaust and does not change frequency when revving the car. Any ideas?
I have a Rover and found the link for the Rover forum really helpful when it came to little niggly questions I had.
Most of the answerers are mechanics or die hard Rover fans so they know 100percent what they are talking about, and can even suggest trustworthy garages and places to go for spares.
Is your Rover petrol engine?
If so then it might be the fuel pump which is located in the fuel tank.
As this runs at a constant speed it would'nt change tone/frequency with engine speed.
