My girlfriend's router does the strangest thing, and I can't figure out why.

First of all the router is a Linksys Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router (WRT400N)

For some reason every now and then the devices connected to it will stop getting the internet signal. It will be working just fine and then it stops. In order to fix it we have to power off the router and then power it on again, and then everything works as normal. Of course, at some later time the problem comes back and we have to "fix" it again.

She has three devices connected to the router: a desktop PC (hard lined) , PS3 (hard lined) and a laptop (wireless). Every now and then the internet connection just drops and none of the devices can get any internet signal. All three devices can still connect to the network with excellent strength, but the only problem is that no internet signal comes through.

I have an average amount of router experience, because I've had to mess with mine, and I've looked at the router settings and everything looks normal, so I don't understand why this happens.

I'm just trying to figure out if it is something wrong with what we are doing or is the router just shot.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It could be the router but I would also call your ISP and check to see if something is wrong with the connection. My boyfriend works in internet tech support and says that sometimes the signal to the home is unstable and will change IP addresses every 2-3 minutes. He normally does some kind of check to the modem to see if it's doing this.
If the modem is changing IPs, the router has to keep changing it as well hence the reason it won't stay connected.
Definitely call the ISP. =) Good luck.
