I'm heading to Canada in December... The first half of my trip (approx 2 months) will be spent visiting relatives but after that I am setting out on my own to backpack around and eventually take up a pre-arranged job in Vancouver. I've already paid for my airfares, travel insurance etc - but what's an ideal amount of money to set aside for when I'm staying with relatives/initial living expenses when I set out on my own and backpack?
Roughly how much money should I save towards backpacking?
