Hi, Poohbear . . . had to look this one up in my home medical encyclopedia.
Roseola usually occurs in children six months to two years of age and is most likely caused by a virus. Irritability and fever are common symptoms along with a rash on the torso which can spread to the face, neck and limbs. Sore throat and enlargement of lymph nodes may also be present.
This condition has no serious complications or results. Treatment is by keeping the child cool and giving acetominophen (Tylenol) to reduce fever.
