Hello,

okay so i use the guide to root my G1.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Full_Update_Guide_-_HTC_Dream#Installing_a_Custom_Recovery_Image

I guess i finished the Rooting part but, im stuck on the "Installing a Custom Recovery Image" step.
i was able to to do the "Amon_Ra's Recovery" part and i cant complete the "flashing Radio". Its not working for me... can someone help me with it?

I look at my firmware and its 1.0... that a good sign right?

the part of

Amon_Ra's Recovery process
Download the latest radio:
2.22.23.02 T-Mobile / US
2.22.19.26i Non US
Place the radio update.zip file on the root of your phone's SD card
Boot into Recovery by holding the Home and Power button while the phone boots
Scroll down to Flash zip from sdcard
Select the radio update.zip
The HTC Dream will reboot during this process

After i get to the my G1 to boot back up from the Home and Power button nothing comes up for me to scroll down to the flash zip file

it just shows me this...

I tried an alternative and press ALT+L and tried the ALT+S but it gives me...

Andriod system recovery utility
E: Cant' open /cache/recovery/command

Home+Back - reboot system now
Alt+L - toggle log text display
Alt+S - apply scard:update.zip
Alt+w - wipe data/factory reset

Installing from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.

Press Home+Back to reboot.

Okay now it says....

Andriod system recovery utility

Alt+L - toggle log text display
Alt+S - apply scard:update.zip
Alt+w - wipe data/factory reset

Press Home+Back to reboot.

Then most likely you're not rooted... do you have the terminal app on your phone? If not get one, then type:

su

And hit enter tell us what it says or does...

awesome yay if worked! the recovery flashing worked!!! HEH

wait...

i tried the terminal thingy and i says the same...? T_T"

but the it installed though... im not sure ahhhh D;

Well I'm tired and I can't remember what the spl does, but you definitely need it because it resizes some internal partitions so cm6 can fit on the phone.

And unfortunately I haven't flashed a cyan rom on g1 since the cm4 days when that hardspl wasn't needed so I've never installed that one....

But let me look and see what it says

okies thankies!

welll i did the finished ther recovery image part but... after it finished rebooting... it lead me back to the Andriod system recovery menu? i thought i was suppose to select reboot system once? im still on the screen right now.

Just turn off or reboot.

Putting hard spl should be easy if you check your radio by booting into fastboot mode (which I don't remember how to do)

Just read and follow this

umm okay. my phone "should be root" by this point correct? because i did the terminal thiingy and still said permission denied...?

Pm kind of at a loss, I don't think recovery would have stuck without root but su should be able to bring up # and not permission denied ...
