Roommate Advice: skipped out on rent, avoids the apartment, is upset, and doesn't want..

...to talk to me.? My roommate skipped out on rent. Didn't tell me. Wouldn't answer my texts (later told me that the phone died) and avoided the apartment when rent was due (stayed at a friends house that night too). I ended up having to pay for her and for the late fees. I'm pretty upset.
I tried everything to get a hold of my roommate and couldn't.
When I came into work today, my roommate was there (we work at the same place and I had no idea my roommate was working today, my roommate normally does not work the morning shift) and I told my roommate that we need to talk, that I had to pay the rent, plus late fees, and that as soon as my roommate's shift was over, we needed to talk. Now, she says she wants to talk to tomorrow and is upset because I brought it up at work
(i didn't yell at her at work, though my voice was sharp and slightly raised, and I did cuss twice; what I told my roommate was "listen, we need to f-*** talk. I stopped by the apartment office and they said you didn't pay the rent, I paid it plus the late fees, we f-*** need to talk as soon as you get off" and that was it).

I know I shouldn't have brought it up at work, but I had just came from paying the bill, I didn't expect to run into my roommate, I wasn't sure if she was coming back to the apartment, and I feel I was really calm considering.

What's the best way to handle the situation?

Like, this is only the second month we've been living together and I really just want to get my money back and move out. I talked to the apartment people and they said I can as long as my roommate agrees. My roommate has been a lot of drama and this is just ridiculous. Any advice you can give me would be appreciated. :)
Thanks for reading this post; sorry it's so long.
