MOORESVILLE, N.C. – “Fired up and ready to go” has got some competition.
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan kicked off their second day on the road together with a raucous rally here in Mooresville, N.C., a place where the influence of NASCAR is so strong the city is dubbed “Race City USA.”

[h=2]Graphic[/h]If Mitt Romney wins the White House in November, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin will join a long line of U.S. vice presidents who came to the office after spending time at the other end of Congress.

Speaking before a crowd of 1,700 cheering supporters at the NASCAR Technical Institute – and with an additional 4,000 waiting outside in two overflow areas – the presumptive GOP presidential and vice presidential nominees received one of their most enthusiastic campaign-trail welcomes to date as they argued that the November election represents a clear choice to voters.
“Here’s the deal,” Ryan, who spoke first and like Romney was clad in a light-blue button-down shirt, told the crowd. “The economy is not working like it should be. President Obama four years ago came with so much promise. So much hope and so much change.”
Democrats, he contended, were able to pass “their whole legislative agenda, virtually” – with the end result of a stalled economic recovery, a country saddled with debt and a 9.4 percent unemployment rate in the Tarheel State.

“You know what, North Carolina?” Ryan said. “We can do better than this. Help is on the way. .
