JERUSALEM (AP) — Mitt Romney is telling Jewish donors their culture is part of what's made Israelis more economically successful than the Palestinians.
Romney on Monday said Israel's GDP per capita, a way to measure wealth, is more than twice that of the Palestinians.
He says the "power of at least culture," in addition to an innovative business climate and the "hand of providence," are the reasons why Israel is so much wealthier.
According to the World Bank, Israel's GDP per capita in 2005 was more than eight times higher than GDP per capita in the West Bank and Gaza.
Romney spoke at a fundraiser with top donors at the King David Hotel. After the money-raising event, he's traveling to Poland, the last stop on his weeklong foreign trip.
