I'm trying to find a novel, but I can't remember the title or the name of the author... 
The plot is about a young girl named -I think is Christine- who is friend/maid to another girl named Samantha since they were children. Samantha's parents are separated/divorced and can never be bothered to write to her father. So Samantha gets Christine writes to him pretending to be her ever since they were little.
One day while Samantha and her mother went off on a vacation, Christine stayed home. She was attacked and nearly rapped by a 'family friend'. Christine was terrified that she would be to blame, and decided to run off to Samantha's fathers ranch.
