Role of the Media in America. (Discussion points, Facts, Opinions, Experences...)?

I have to do a poster on the the role of media in America and want to make sure that my right wing view of the media as left winged liberals didn't effect it.

whats your opinion on the topic? Is todays media mainly liberal, why?
