Rogers to Virgin number change?

I just bought a phone from Virgin yesturday. Now i wanted to keep the same number that I had with rogers and the girl told me I could, but now my Virgin phone wont work, and it says its not "activated" even though it is (on a 2 year plan) Also my old rogers phone still works (Im not cancling the rogers phone, im just going to pay for the plan until its over. Please help, this is making me very mad.
