Rogers Rocket stick plan cap?

Beyond Mordant

New member
so i got my new bill for my rocket stick and i knew already i did alot of downloads, i checked it was 14gb,

I was pretty sure the data plan(im on the flex) caps at $100? Did this change? any CSRs around can verify?>
reason i ask is because this bill with the 14gigs of usage is costing me $414.65.

I'm about ready to blow my lid here. I am really holding myself back from calling and cancelling this plan..... my wife has a telus one from work that i also use and i've hit 20+ gigs on that sucker and they cap at 100.

Thanks for any help.

*edit*

nm apparently its supposed to be on my bill.....sadly im on online billing and i only get the totals....anyways sadly the rocket will not be renewed

Hi there.

This might help you out:

I had the same problem when it first happened as well. It appears on your October 2009 bill, and yes I'm on online billing too so never noticed it until I downloaded the PDF Bill and saw the msg. Thankfully Rogers fixed it for me, but has since been cancelled as my plan expired one mth after it happened. Too bad for Rogers too: I was a happy data customer recommending the service, but its not worth it now. I didn't mind the cap at $100 since I'm like you, using about 11-15GB each mth. But now, its just too expensive and Rogers doesn't seem to want to accomodate us high data users, other then charging outrageous prices.

Rocket stick and rocket hub were always for casual users,

For heavy internet, we will always suggest a regular internet, rocket stick is more like an "on the go" internet.

Data cap has been increased from 100$ to 500$ in 2009.

Thanks xatomicx, but still, there should be an option for heavy data users like us. That $100 cap was the main reason I kept the service, even though it was still a bit pricy, because the service was reliable and most of the tech agents are helpful with any issues that arised (like when we couldn't get to Rogers.com LOL!). But I think that's why I'll be excited when WIND Mobile is released in Edmonton, as they are advertising unlimited data, with some throttling for heavy users over 5GB, for $55/mth. The throttling kinda sucks, but its understandable if we're putting a heavier strain on the network. But the price is deffinitely right.

*update*
so rogers credited me for the overages and capped my data to 100 for this one time. Unfortunately I will only have the new flex plan. Sadly, this sucks since i used to love rogers but this one experience has just disappointed me, i even asked about the 15gb java had mentioned but they said it doesn't exist....wtf.

Anyways, looking at T-mobile they have an unlimited data plan for 40, i'm awaiting confirmation from them for the charges for north american roaming and if it costs less than 100 i'll be taking trip over the border (30mins)

Wow! I guess the person you're talking too was aware of it. Try calling Rogers retentions at 18668973008 and they should be fully aware of it. Me, I'm waiting for WIND Mobile to release their service in Edmonton, as they offer an unlimited data plan for $55/mth. They thortle your service when you've used more the 5gb, but that's understandable for using the bandwidth; however, the price is right and no contracts!

wind mobile? havent heard anything about them..they have a web?

just got off the phone with T-mobile:

here's the deal-

Unlimited data = 39.99/mth no data cap!
added canada roaming plan = +5/mth
free sim card (don't need a stick if you got one unlocked already or "use an old 3g bb/phone for tethering" as quoted by rep)
NO CONTRACT!

the bad- you need an american address to get it shipped too (or go in-store to pick-up)

i might go ahead and do this, good thing i have relatives down there :P

Just checked Wind mobile looks like they'll be opening a store in vancouver this year might just check them out

Yeah that sounds like a sweet plan! Definitely very appealing. Good luck on that.

WIND Mobile is a new carrier in Canada that's mainly in the big metro areas, like Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, a few others, and are slowly releasing the network in new areas. The plans are very competitive, no contracts, just have to buy the phone. I think the website is www.windmobile.ca
