rogers phone activation?

well i got a phone for christmas, tryed activating online but it says how would you like to pay for it and ****, i click pay as you go card, and it asks for the numbers even when it says i have 50 dollars activation -20 for the plan, so after all that i should still have 30 dollars which it says, but i need to put in pay as you go card? is there anyway around that
