Ok, I am not sure which one it is but here is my conundrum.... I just started getting 3g service this past August, and it has been stable until about 2 weeks ago. I use to get almost full service in my basement and all around town(Prescott, ON), even driving to Brockville it was solid 3g. Now I don't even get service in my basement, getting dropped calls all over, and even losing signal in buildings that I use to get full strength.
My question is, do they reduce the strength somehow so I am getting weaker signal? or Could it be my phone itself that has something wrong with it?
I have just done (today) a fresh install of the OS for Rogers (4.6.0.282) and still have the same results for signal strength. Customer service has been of no help at all. Does anyone here have any ideas, I am going nuts with this sporadic signal strength and lack of signal at all.

The only thing I can think of right now is try again with customer service and just ask them about any cell towers that might be down and/or damaged and need repair. That's the only thing I can think of that could affect the signal strength. It happen with me here in ny. So maybe its the same issue up there.

I have been having a similar problem with my 8900 (not 3G). I will be talking on it at my apartment where I have never had any problems, then all of a sudden I get call failed. It's happened several times over the last few weeks, no matter who I am talking to. I get full reception in my apartment so I don't know what it is, has happened outside too. I'm in Toronto and I was talking to my friend about it, who has a non-blackberry rogers phone and it's happened to her too. I getting really annoyed by it. My download speeds are painfully slow as well, I usually just use the browser to read news etc, but gave up on it as its been taking super long to load. I wonder if Rogers can't keep up with demand on their network anymore.

My friend who has an Iphone and I are having the same problem in Toronto when on the highway the call seems to drop in the same spot every time....."Canada's most reliable wireless network with the fewest dropped calls!" ok sure thats why I have dropped calls every day....Dont get me wrong I Like Rogers...and do not want to switch.....but come on here!

I was right beside a person with an Iphone last night, they had full 3G service and my bold was at no service at all, I am thinking I have a hardware problem. But times it works good, like right now.

ok, just figured something out, can someone tell me if I am far off.

I just plugged in my phone to my desk charger, it is full strength 3G, if I take it off the charger and hold it beside the charger it drops signal to GSM and then to no service.

My question is "does the antenna of the phone have anything to do with the USB connection to the phone?"

Now I just figured out what is wrong. I was missing the two screws from the back at the bottom of the phone. I guess that is where the antena is. I switched one of my screws and now it works great. I also have ordered screws.

sorry late on replying, I am getting full 3g service. It was like once the phone was tight together it was making good contact for the antenna or something
