Rogers now offers unlimited data

When I talked to Rogers they told me they would charge for ANYTHING over 25mb. So it really isnt a soft cap (the CSR told me all they did was rename the 25mb data plan). I just think Rogers is taking an unethical appoach to selling this plan because there are heavy data users out there. IN NO WAY is it unlimited. It leaves the customer open to many overage charges with nothing to protect them (like Im willing to give Rogers that power). It is blatant marketing misconception. Easy fix dont call it unlimited because its NOT. Calling it an unlimited data is misleading to the customer. I would hope other Rogers customers would agree.

I also dont think that the Curve will be 3g/HSDPA. From my understanding RIM has been working on 3g/HSDPA but nothing is slated for release until at least the 3rdQ of 2008.

And like I said early there are heavy data users out there. I am one of them. On a average I use 45-65mb per month with my highest ever at around 127mb/month. So it is possible trust me.

Still says unlimited as of right now (Oct 22/07).

EDIT: However, that said... I also called Rogers up just now. And I can confirm what several others above me said. This 'unlimited' plan is a 25 MB plan; and I was thinking of switching from my current plan to this. After the phone call, I decided not to, and stick to my 25+25 MB for $60 plan.

My average monthly useage for the past 3 months has been about 40 MB.

Wooohooo!! This is the best news all day!!

I was recently charged 90 dollars for going over my data by 12 MB... not cool!!

My bill was over 300 dollars!!! Grrr...

It's about time Rogers gets with the program!

Yay Rogers!!

Sprint has an unlimited plan that's truely unlimited. The BB unlimited is $49.99 per month. Voice plan is separate or .20 per minute. There's also a 10MB plan for $39.99 (web and email combined), and .01 for each KB over.

Someone from TMobile, what doe they charge for BB access? Usually the have one of the better, if not the best rates.

yeah....for us Canadians it's sucks....hugely. We always get shafted. No wonder so many people keep going to Telus...but I want another GSM company in the game. I will never own a CDMA phone.

Does anyone know how to estimate what this would amount to in text messages, email, web, etc? I think I read somewhere once that 10MB is between 500 and 1000 of the above in some combination, but I'm not sure.
