Rogers is saying I'm uploading 4G per day but my download rate is low. What's going on?

For the past 2 months or so we have been going over our 60G limit with Rogers internet. Our cycle reset on Feb 11th and we're already at 35G!! They gave us one of their modems and we have a password, which rules out anyone hacking in (even though it's still possible, it's highly unlikely they would hack us to upload?). The reps on the phone keep saying that if uTorrent is left open that could account for it, but that doesn't make any sense. I don't leave it open all the time and if I do, I have max 1 download seeding (if any). I didn't even think that Rogers' upload rate was fast enough to make what we're uploading possible.
Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Could it be someone in the house has a virus that's secretly maxing our uploads? Is there a crazy loophole in utorrent? Or is Rogers just ripping us off (they suspiciously raised their overage fees from $25 to $50/month when this ordeal started for us)?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

ps. I've been using utorrent for ages and there have always been about 4 computers connecting to the internet. We've been with rogers for years but have never gone over our limit until the last 2-3 months.
