the stone roses were very influential i think
also, mudhoney for in my view, starting grunge, the white stripes for spawning this new wave of garage rock, and a band who i think were influential in that they harboured 3 of the greatest guitarists of all time (who in their own right were influential)- the yardbirRAB.
