What effect did his nomination have on the Court?

Am I right in saying that his nomination wasn't confirmed and he didn't get into the Court?

Also, did Reagan have any motives in nominating Bork?

Robert Bork was a Strict Constructionist Federal Judge.
The Senate voted against his nomination, so he never became a Supreme Court Justice. At the time of his appointment, his decisions had the lowest rate of being overturned by a higher court. He would have made a great Justice.
I think Reagan's motivation was to nominate a good judge.
The Senate at the time was controlled by political Left Wing Democrats, so they didn't like Bork.

For more on what "strict constructionism" is, see the link.

Actually, after some more reading, I think it makes more sense to say that Bork was an "Originalist" and not a Strict Constructionist.
