Roaming Data

Back in the early days there were horror stories of people going away with their phones, switching off the roaming data, but some applications being able to push through switch anyway and updating for entire trips and people returning to ?100s bill due to shopsavvy or something constantly updating over roaming data.

Has this been fixed?

I'm off away today, and it's be handy to have my phone as a phone/wifi enabled device/music player, but i'm not going to take it if it can still constantly access the net when i tell it not to.

Anyone know?

There's nothing to stop apps accessing mobile data, if it's available and you're not connected to WiFi.

The solution is easy, however. Download APNDroid from the Market. Run it, and it'll rename all of your APN (they're the mobile data access points) addresses so that they no longer work. It does this by adding APNDROID to the start of each APN address. This will prevent ALL mobile data (GPRS, EDGE, 3G). You run it again to undo this. Simple. You will still be able to use WiFi of course.
