Anybody know if there's a vendor out there who sells a chromed version of the plastic Road King side covers? What about chroming the existing covers? Metric cruisersusea lot of chromed plastic parts...can't imagine no one has ever thought of this for their Harley.

My son's neighbor bought a used police model RK which comes with black side covers on a white motorcycle. He's asked the same thing. He's seen the chrome oil tank and battery covers on my son's '04 XL1200C an he likes the look.

There are companies that usesome sort of a vacuum processto chromeyourplastic parts, but it's very expensive. There are plenty of chromed plastic parts available for metric cruisers, but the Harley aftermarket seems focused on chromed metal parts (ie. Kuryakan).

Google "plastic chroming" and you will find a number of shops that will get you a chrome look on plastic via vacuum metalizing.

Also ..... I think the side covers on Harleys are fiberglass, at least that's what my RKC appears to be on an inside edge that got .... snagged, and frayed a bit.
Should still be OK to "metalize" though ........
