Road bikes Build it your self?

Hi there i am thinking of building my own road bike but the problem is i dont know where to start because i have been i keen mountain bike rider but really want to start road biking now aswell please help. any advice on where to start and the bits to get and not to get?
 
I thought of doing the same thing myself. But after sitting down and doing some math, the cost is far higher than a store bought model.
Go to a site like www.nashbar.com and look at the costs for a frame and needed parts. They add up very quickly.
If money isn't an issue, and you have the know how to put together a rather big zig saw puzzle, go for it. Not many people can say they have a custom home-made bike ! Remember though, paint is another major added cost. You just can't go to Walmart and buy a couple cans of spray paint.
