I lived in Japan for a year on an exchange program. I rode my little Watahan bike around that whole time. I'll be going back to visit for 90 days and want to travel very extensively by bicycle and I don't think I can tolerate the distances with such a cheap, heavy, small bike.

I went to some sports stores in Matsumoto (Nagano Pref) where you could get Golf, Tennis, Baseball, Soccer equipment etc... and also REAL Road bikes. Ones made by legitimate bike manufacturers such as 'Giant'. But for the life of me, I can't remember how much they cost. I seem to think that I remember that a fairly average range was something like 60,000 to 80,000 yen for pretty good, lightweight road bike. Can anyone give me some confirmation? I also don't remember the sports store names or I might be able to look them up.

Thank you for your time.
