Rizoma LUX grips

So I got the rizoma LUX grips as a present last week and finally had time to put them on.

Well, they aren't on because they left a gap about 1/4th of an inch, which doesn't look too good in my opinion.

What's aggravating is that I heard mixed statements about the gap. Some said there was a gap, some said there wasn't. Some said they cut their handles to make it fit, which is something I definitely do not want to do.

For those of you who have them out there, is there a way to install them without the gap or is there a bar end that covers the gap?

Any solution or should I return them?

If you have installed them before, then you should know the answer. The clutch side is easy. The brake side is the problem. If you want gapless without cutting, then you must drill a new hole for throttle position. Look at how to section.

Yeah lol. Not bad, need a new gear lever, left grip, and some scratches on the front and side fixed.

Not terrible, I slipped on gravel at like 15mph. My leg saved the bike from any mechanical damage.

I'm looking at this site. I also planned to get tanks so maybe I can kill two birds with one stone.

Questions:

For the tanks, should I get the vertical ones or the 90 degree ones? ie http://www.desmoworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_379&products_id=399&zenid=fbd35bd5296934a76098070273d140ac

Are handlebar caps required? If they are, should I get

I kind of like the slim ones better. I'm replacing my stock grips with the Lux ones.

And finally:
Rizoma Ducati ProGuard System - Crash Protection

What does these do?
