I'm in love with one of my best friends. We originally met on a date almost a year ago and there wasn't really a spark but we then became close best friends and they told me they felt an overwhelming need to take care of me. Then out of the blue most likely due to the slight age gap and the fact we're very different people and they have two children despite them being 34, they back off and the next time they contact me it''s to tell me they have met someone amazing. I met their new boyfriend and it only affirmed how much I love this amazing little person. I know they are totally in love with someone else and think this other person is the one, but what do I do? I'm sitting here hoping they naturally break up and I hate it.I think they still like me though because we had an awkward hug, clearly some kind of tension there.
