Rip: CT Cop Streetfighter Crash.

Retired CT cop is involved in a crash with his StreetFighter and dies. My condolences go out to his family and friends. Don't know whether or not he was wearing a helmet. Most Ducatisti that I've passed on the road do wear helmets. Even if he was wearing one, a collision with a car @ speed is usually pretty bad. 61 years old and still an enthusiast... Damn!

CT is one of those states where a helmet in NOT required. I wear my helmet 100% of the time because silly things happen when you don't. Story in the link.

RIP. My condolences go out to the family.

There is no mention in the article as to whether or not he was wearing a helmet, or the exact circumstances of the accident, other than impact with another vehicle. Investigation on-going.

Regardless, ATGATT is the only way to go. Anything else is just a lack of common sense.

Im currently serving in the military and travel to CT to race motocross with friends every year.. they have street bikes for me as well and we cruise Laconia area.....It scares me all the time seeing them ride with no helmets on the street.. they are always completely outfitted for the dirt, makes little sense the culture that is developed with the no helmet laws..It always makes for heated discussions when i go visiting.... I always ALWAYS wear one... not only because were mandated to in the military but articles as this always bring me to the ground...i want to last for a few more years round here..... its a terrible thing to loose a friend or familiy member to reasons of poorly driven choices.....

Update:
As it turns out, this gentleman was a well respected and very experienced rider. He was wearing his helmet and full gear (leathers, boots gloves). He had just traded in his Duc Monster a little while ago (month or so). That Street Fighter was very new and from what I've been told, the retired Police commander had the experience to bring out the best in that machine.

The other motorist in the incident was a woman who blew through a red light. The retired officer died a horrible and tragic death and I'm not going to get into details. May he rest in peace!!! Such a tragic event. I've said it before and will say it again, I wish his family the best and will most certainly attend a memorial ride for him if there is one announced.

After having a year away from riding, this is the kind of stuff that scares the living ____ out of me. Not the canyons, the track...the every day commute and tools like this woman who just have no regard for anyone but themselves. Regardless of how or why she blew the light, it was a selfish act that cost a man his life.

It sounds as though this man will be missed by many. RIP, indeed.

Bob was an amazing guy. He was a very caring and loving man and volunteered for a abused childrens charity and several other charities.

Bob worked for Gengras Ducati as a Demo ride instructor. He never rode without full leathers and gear on and was an excellent rider. I can assure you that he was not at fault in this accident.

He will be very much missed.

Here is a better article about the man not the accident.
