It's not letting me use my mp3 music on my phone as my ringtones. i know that's basically so i have to pay for ringtones, but is there any way i can get around that?

are we supposed to know what phone you are talking about???
BTW, most phones use the ringtone format on my Iden Links media formats sticky.

Hello and welcome to CPF, band_groupie.

I'm guessing your W810i is branded to ATT/Cingular. If it is, refer to the link below for answers...different provider, but exact same situation.

http://cellphoneforums.net/sony-ericsson/t243250-k790-ringtone-unlock-help.html

Also, check a few threads down about the ringtones lock on the W810i. It also gives the same problem.

try drm packager
if you're confident about the phone won't have any hardware problem, and not planning to use carrier's branding feature, de-branding is still another option to let you use mp3 tone unrestricted

I found out that with sony ericsson phones you cannot play mp3 ringtones, but what you can do is, you can find a mp3 to wma converter program, such as "power converter" the use it as ringtone, alert, alarm... whatever you want.

Power converter is free to download and allows you to convert 1 at a time, but if you wanna convert many at once you need to buy it, so just download it and convert 1 at a time... I think thats the loophole!!

i hope i helped.

I have a Sony Ericsson (w300) and I have many mp3 ringtones.
How odd that happened with a w800!
Could it be that you are saving the song to the memory card (not to the phone
