ringtones on my motorola droid 2?

a friend of mine sent me a ringtone in a text message i have saved it to my sd card. but when i go into my settings and try finding it in my ringtone spot the only ringtones that show up are the ones that came on the phone, im sick of those ringtones and would like to use the ones i have saved in my files but cant figure out how to do it
