It is easy to send sounds, photos, and videos to/from a mobile phone.
However, since cell providers want to make money, it is usually not so easy to send games or applications to a mobile phone unless we are purchasing them from our provider's website. Also, for those whose provider is Telus Mobility, Verizon, Nextel, or Boost Mobile, it is equally difficult to send ringtones [or to set sounds/music as ringtones].
Browsing a mobile phone via a USB cable or bluetooth generally reveals folders for sounds, videos, and pictures, but not for apps, games, (or sometimes ringtones).
For example, it is easy to browse the following folders of a LG KEYBO 2 phone:
- MyPictures
- MySounds
- MyVideos
If you have a microSD card installed in your KEYBO 2, you will also see:
- SdPictures
- SdSounds
- SdVideos
Have you had success copying apps, games, or ringtones to your cell phone? Presumably they need to be copied to folders other than the 3 mentioned above, since they are reserved for photos, sounds, and videos.
BitPim.org is a free application for getting/putting data to your phone via a USB cable using Linux, Windows, or Mac; however, some of us are having a really difficult time getting it to recognize/access the USB port(s) on our computer. Furthermore, some people prefer to browse their phone using bluetooth or browse the SD card only.
Any other ideas?
NOTE: I found that I can set up the bluetooth connection to my mobile phone as a virtual serial port, and then use BitPim to get and send data. I'm leaving this question here, though, in case somebody leaves an alternative method that others might find useful.
