I needed to get new tires for my wife's 2003 Jeep Liberty. Since the existing 16" steel rims were chipping, we found a great deal for new tires plus new aluminum rims, but they were 15" and not 16". We called a tire store and based on their okay that it would work, we went ahead with the private sell. When we went to get them mounted, we were told the front rims don't fit because they hit the calipers and tie rods (the back ones fit okay). We were told once we get spacers, it would set it out far enough for the wheels to work. After this didn't work, we were told the spacers allowed it to fit but the studs weren't long enough to fit. We then got longer studs and were told that the spacer still doesn't allow the rims to fit. We are now told that we can get a wheel adjuster that bolts onto the existing studs and will extend the wheel our further out (we would need one for each tire) which will have the rim out further. After all the issues prior, I am wondering if even this will work now. We can't afford another new set of tires, but it seems like we are dumping more money into having the tires work. Does anyone know what size of adjuster (if there is a specific size to look at for the Jeep)? And/or if this adjuster will even work?
Thanks!
