My englosh teacher gave us a huge assignment with 40 question on this story but i cant figure out the answer to these ones.

Any help would be appreciated

1. Why is the Mariner made to suffer in the particular way described? How is it related to the bird?

2. Why does he compare himself to the snakes described?

3. What cause his perception of the snakes to change?

4. Why does a Spring of love gush from his heart? what does it mean that he is blessed the water snakes "unawareness"? How can he be unaware when performing what is by definition an intentional act/ How and why does his saint get involved in the act?

5. Why can the mariner now sleep?

6. Why is the dryness removed with water?

7. Why does the mariner feel like a ghost?

8. Why does the air burst into life?

8. Why do the men arise from the dead? Are they forgiven?

9. What does the spirit's loving the bird who loved the man have to do with anything?

10. Why cant the mariner pray again? Did he ever really change?

11. Why do the men die again? Did they ever change? Wheres the bird?

12. Why does the mariner think the hermit can shrive him? Does the hermit do this?

13. If the moral is as simple as "He prayeth best who loveth well," why is the Mariner wandering the earth un-forgiven, forever? Why hasn't he been forgive? Is he wrong in doing so?
