Riding my bike instead of running?

This summer i plan to lose around 20lbs and next week im starting to ride my bicycle. Plus that i have started to do exercises to tone up my arms and my abs. Next week im planning to ride my bicycle 8 miles a day up this huge hill. I was wondering including the exercises im doing for my body. Am I able to lose the same amount as running.
oh yea i also power walk my dog everyday about 1 hour.
 
Sounds like a great plan, I wouldn't worry too much about running because your goig to get lots of exercise on that long bike run... Be sure to eat healthy and take atleast one day off from the bike ride for recovery
