1) I was riding my bike at 6:30 in darkness on the sidewalk.

2) The pedestrian crossing turned white (OK To Walk)

3) After a few moments it turned flashing red (Use Caution)

4) I crossed while is was flashing red and made it across safely using the crosswalk.

5) I got pulled over and issued a citation for "No Bicycle Headlight."

This all happened on the same street as a "No On Proposition 8" protest. I feel like I have been targeted unfairly. I told the officer that I felt targeted and he said "you may very well have been." Any comments/suggestions? Or am I just screwed?

This happened in Orange County, CA in the city of Yorba Linda.
Oh yeah, and I got a Traffic "Notice to Appear" so I have to go to court within the next couple months.

Even though apparently I am guilty, should I plead guilty just to give the officer crap?:) And have the possibility of him not showing?

It is crystal clear that he is directly targeting me due to the protest. I've been bicycling as a form of transportation since I was 10 (past 8 years) and have never had any trouble with traffic citations.
