Guess the answer. I was given an assignment to come up with some difficult riddles to test the 6th graders. Are they hard, at least for 6th graders?

Strong men cower before me
Others embrace me like an old friend
None can escape, for I will find them eventually
I have the power to hold you in my grasp eternally
But I can be kind, releasing you back to the world
Be it peaceful state, or leave you gasping for breath, that is my choice
I can fulfill your heart's desires
Be the one to unleash your fears
Sinful and deadly, holy and kind
I take on all forms of being
Fear me, for I am the brother of Death.

Lovers dance within my sight
I am a hunter's only light
Forever smiling, red, blue, white, and yellow
Bright friends surround me, forever loyal
A sliver of light, a glowing orb
Sometimes shrouded, but always there.

None can outrun me; I am the fastest of all
Sometimes, so fast you can't believe I flew by so fast
Other times, I drag on, enjoying your distress
I catch them all, young and old, fast and slow
Those that are wise relish their's, others speed by, impatient to get through
A necessity, a curse, you love me, you hate me
Take this advice and heed it wisely, when your's is up, embrace me well.

A foolish thing, but powerful
I can bring you down on your knees, willing to do anything
Your heart pounding, your pulse racing
The death of some, the birth of others
Gentle and sensitive, I can easily turn on you
A sacred thing, not to be messed with
But entice me well, and I can fall to your feet
Those who do not are wise
But understand this: wisdom cannot fill the heart like I.

I agree whith thee first awnser. Heres a shorter one and it stumps many of my freinds. What walks on four legs in the morning two legs in the afternoon and three legs at night. Heres the awnser a baby in the morning crawling on hands and knees. a boy walking on two legs in the afternoon. And three legs is an old man walking whith the assistence of a cane. Oh and by the way isnt the awnser to your riddle is time???
