I think i have rib fracture.
I have pain when I breathe deeply and cough.I fell down on my rib 3 days ago.
But I have been walking and doing all sorts of stuff since then, ignoring the pain.Is it ok if I dont strain myself much and go to school,do simple stuff.I mean, pain is not that much, but is it a big deal?

well that kind of depenRAB, in a different ways. the one thing that they 'used' to just do for rib fracture was wrap them with some type of contricting bandage? they do not do this anymore becasue it can very easily lead to pneumonia since the lungs just cannot fully expand with that much constriction. so if you DO indeed have some level of fracture, doing 'nothing", as far as the wrap is kind of a good thing? but, and this mostly depenRAB upon age in just how certtain organs still sit in a much younger body, there is always a possibility when you do hit those ribs hard enough that you could have suffered some type of a 'rebound' type of injury to the underlying organs to a certain degree? this is just when npeople have the thorasic/ribcage area actually hit hard enough, the skeletal part can go down into or onto a specific organ then bounce back up into place again? this is only becasue the ribs are much more flexable and less likely to really fracture upon the impact, but will move inward. are ya with me so far?

i really do think just seeing your primary doc for a full palpation of those ribs and what they can feel and just would 'see' if something did indeed occur is definitely in order. it could just be bruising(much more likely actually) or a fracture, but it really would take an x ray done to really 'see' if the bones themselves suffered injury or if even the cartiledge that is part of that whole rib cage area and is in between the ribs themselves is all right where it is suppoed to be. this too would show upon plain x ray that most primary clinics can do right then and there at the clinics.

there are just alot of variables that need to be considered and checked into just to really make certain that you are okay right now and nothing happened. the real chances of that rebound injury/effect and you at this far out actually having occured are pretty slim at this point or other things would have popped up as symptoms by now, so thats good. you just at least need that x ray of your ribs right now.

if by some chance you did injure a rib in some way,the treatment is really nothing more than you have been doing already? taking it easy and allowing healing to take place. but you DO need that look at the ribs. hopefully this is just brusing which will get better with time. anti inflammatories are usually the best if this is NOT an actual fracture. just discuss the pain management with your doc at that visit too. sometimes, espescially in the case of broken bones anywhere in our bodies, anti inflammatories like advil are NOT recommended since they can thin the blood and create a much harder time in repairing/healing the facture. just another reason why that x ray is needed here.

hopefully everything is just fine but sore. please let me know what you find out,K? marcia

I agree with feelbad. It is always better to be checked out by our doctor when we have an injury. I fractured a rib some years back, and it really did hurt. I am sorry this happened to you. See the doc:)
