Canada has become a place to call home for many people in the past 142 or so years. Canada has benefited with their decision to allow immigrants into the country with open arms and provide many opportunities for those who need a new start. Immigration in Canada has proved to be a beneficial advance for our country. Immigration has benefited us by introducing us into a culturally diverse country to work and live in, socially and educationally advance, technologically advanced.
Due to all the immigration that occurred during the early years after Canada’s confederation in 1867 to populate the country by Clifford Sifton leading up to today, we have become very culturally diverse. not only do we accept other cultures and religions we also respect and try to experience the differences between cultures, becoming diverse in culture helps the people of Canada become less prejudiced and discriminated we also become our own people and find no need to assimilate ourselves to fit in with others that we might have to do, had we been in a different country. For example, if someone that was not of Asian decent immigrated to China, it would seem that China would been unable to accommodate for the religious and cultural needs of another because China is not exposed to this much diversity, whereas Canada can easily accommodate any culture and religion.
Many social advances in Canada would not have occurred had there not been immigration in our country. Some social advances relating to women that occurred during immigration was when Manitoba became the first province to allow women the right to vote in 1646. When immigration happened women had found new opportunities with the population growing rapidly to make a change to how women were treated. They made a huge change when they were allowed in the workforce, when all the men were at war and there was nobody to fill their spots. Women quickly became accepted as journalists, factory workers, clerks teachers, nurses and etc. Other social advances for women include women’s groups forming. Women gained enough confidence to get together and share ideas and opinions with other women, sometimes they even were determined enough to protest. At one point they had alcohol banned during WW1 because women found it lead to family abuse. Other social advances include better working conditions because of the growth in labor organizations.
Finally, Canada has become very technologically and educationally advance over the years, we have been able to use technology in our everyday lives that is making our lives simpler and our work easier. Education has also advanced and benefited us during many discoveries. For example, the first airplane flight was by the Wright brothers, had they not researched and were educated enough to build and design the first airplane. Due to immigration in 1914 it became necessary to attend school up to the age of 14. This was only possible because people from other parts of the world put their education and expertise together in order to create something that would benefit mankind. We were also able to learn from other countries mistakes, using that to our advantage.

In conclusion, I feel that I have proved the introductory thesis that immigration in Canada has proved to be a beneficial advance for our country for a number of reasons such as it has made us culturally diverse, socially advance, and educationally and technologically advanced.
