Restoring as new iPhone?

I got a new iPhone because my old one was acting up. I was wondering if I should set it up as a new iPhone. If so, what will I lose? How can I prevent it?

If you set it up as factory, you will lose everything unless you still have a backup on your itunes then if you have any doubts you can just restore it from your backup and youll have all of your contacts, pictures, etc. etc.
