Restaurant vs a home cooked meal?

I have a friend who is very derogatory when it comes to eating at other people's houses. He says you don't know how people cook in their kitchen. However, he has no problem eating at restaurants with kitchen staffs you never see. I use to work in a restaurant and often read the restaurant inspection reports provided at the health department. One restaurant he patronize often receives critical citations. Recently the citations have been for employees chewing gum in the kitchen, grime and debris around cooking area, and temperatures not a proper level to eliminate bacteria. If I let these reports bother me, I would never eat at a restaurant. I definitely don't eat out every week. I believe that most people will not deliberately offer guest food that is not good. I have an aunt whose food I will not eat any more. Besides the fact that her food always taste bland because she only uses salt/pepper for seasoning, her house is roach infested and I've seen my uncle use a rag he used to wipe his mechanics hands on to clean a pot before putting it on the stove. Since this is what I know, I avoid food out of my aunt's house.

If you invite me to your cookout or dinner, chances are I'm there and not at a restaurant.

What is your preference, would you rather eat at a restaurant or have someone else home cooked meal?
