restarting strangely

hi, im new to the whole pda stuff. after i installed aim and the keyboard software to my tx, it started to restart all the time. it did not even go back to the menu. after it goes to that palm logo, it restarts. i also did a warm reset, for some reason i cant go into my wifi setup. i hit it once, heard a few clicks and then it resets. i really dont know whats going on
 
You'll need to do another warm reboot and delete either the AIM or the keyboard software. I suspect that both are bad....unless they specifically stated that they were for the TX - I don't think that the AIM is yet ready for prime time on the TX.

I'm not certain about the keyboard - but I'd say it's the AIM.
 
actually after i delete aim and the keyboard, it stil does the same thing. it keeps restarting on me on the wifi setup. i cant go online on it anymore =(
 
One of those two programs probably caused a setting in the saved preferences file to get corrupted. Your two options are:

1. Delete the Saved_Preference.prc file on the handheld. This will cause the device to reset once immediately and it will also return it to a near Hard Reset state since it will cause the loss of all of your registered software liscenses for most addon programs.

2. Hard Reset the device. This will definitely cause the loss of registrations for all add on software.


Programs such as AIM and Keyboards will often conflict with other programs that were installed before them. Many of these programs have settings that "look" for a keyboard and modify the savedpreferences accordingly.....

Each program that is installed affects the savedpreference file in some fashion and issues may not show up until several other programs have been installed....conflicts.

Unlike the Windows file structure - the Palm OS is a soup bowl with all of the programs intermingling and everyonce in awhile - they don't like each other. :p
