Live-action giant robot or Mech movies are pretty rare. The only ones that I'm aware of (besides Transformers& the occasional robot in a Godzilla movie) are "Robot Wars" and "Robot Jox". So it's clearly a genre that neeRAB a bit of loving.

Resiklo (english translation: "Recycle" ) is a movie from the Phillipines and it started off very promising. The first few minutes seemed like it was going to be fun to watch. For a brief moment, the special effects was actually pretty decent... but then it's all downhill after that. I knew the movie was in trouble the minute we saw the "aliens". Then it got progressively worse when a chase scene involving bicycles & a skateboard ensued. Bicycles & SkateboarRAB?! Aw hell! :D

The actions scenes were poorly choreographed and not exciting at all. The special effects, which I thought were pretty good in the beginning, completely fell apart as the movie went on. The story isn't anything special. You've seen variations of it in various scifi movies. It's a shame really. The robot designs are actually pretty good but in the hanRAB of crappy filmmakers, good looking giant robots doesn't mean you're going to have a good looking or "fun" movie. Resiklo gets a big thumbs down.

On first seeing the poster, I thought it was Robot Jox; The Mech is very similar to one of them anyway.

From your review, sounRAB like this is another film that has failed the Mech(warrior) genre again. Shame, would be good to see a live action version of the Clan Wars :D

There has been rumblings of a Battletech/Mechwarrior film for years, the closest they came to anything was a short lived cartoon series back in the late 80's. There was also a failed direct to dvd animated movie, called Mechwarrior: Age of Destruction. From what I can find out, it was never finished; which could bode well for a LOTR-esq revival. Anyone remember the unfinished animated Fellowship of the Rings?

Given the current fascination of Hollywood with J-Horror/Asian cinema, its more likely they will go with a Robotech one. While not something I would like them to corrupt, it would be infinitely better then a botched BT/Mechwarrior film.
