Residency and additional financial aid grants?

Basically, I'm an incoming freshman at the University of South Florida. I have had one heck of a time actually getting accepted and being able to attend. Two years ago, I was given homeless/unaccompanied youth status in high school after leaving an unstable and abusive household, back in Illinois. I moved to Florida 8 months ago and therefore do not qualify as a resident. I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere in the law that could help me petition to be a resident for this semester. It really sucks because I just found out I won't be getting bright futures (it was on my award letter but now I am being told I will not qualify do to my residency status) now I'm already at school. I won't be able to afford school now and inevitable I will have to drop out. It really sucks because I have worked my behind off for the last two years, living on my own, working, and still continuing to do well in school. I moved here in order to finish high school and live with my Aunt. This might not make sense, but it sucks. I was just wondering if ANYONE knew ANY way to possibly get residency status in Florida or if there are any additional financial aid grants for unaccompanied youth. It sucks because I'm really only $2500 short, which the bright futures was covering that. Please, anyone with any information that can help, it would be wonderful. I really don't want to push my college education back due to lack of family support. It really is unfair.
