Reserve light trivia

As an addendum: Just in case anyone is wondering what the going rate for gasoline is from a tow truck trolling the highways for idiots who run out of gas: ~$18 USD/gallon...

I'll tell ya something, though, Light.....the fact that you came on the board for a public telling of your hairbrained misfortune is a true show of charactor....in my humble opinion.
Not only are you laughing at yourself....you've allowed your misfortune to provide a few smiles to the rest of us today.

I'd like to proclaim you as "King for the Day".

Jeez.. I wish I was getting 40+ miles on reserve..

[On the way backdown, Ran out of gas coming into Ojai and coasted the 1/4mi into the 76 station. Guess the Duc ain't up to two trips up the hill without a drink.. 102.7mi from full to empty.. 26.3mi on res.
The above was a previous reply I made to a So.Cal ride posting.. Mixed riding with some heavy handed canyon stuff thrown in..]

It is all based on how you ride. I thought I could get at least 20 miles with the res. light. I timed it perfectly. At 18.2 it went dead. Yes I was 1.8 miles from the gas station.

Luckily we have a free highway service that patrols the single highway in town. He came up 20 minutes later, gave me 3 gallons of gas and told me to have a good day. When he said it was free I tried to tip the guy a 20 but he said he wasn't allowed and got paid plenty for the job. Finally my tax dollars at work. Gotta love small town mentality.

43.25.... does that only count for the 1098R? I calculated 45 for my 1098 base. I put in 2.5 gallons after highway riding just as the light came on. I figure even at 30mpg, that should have put me at 45 miles and I think I was doing better than 30mpg. Guess I'll have to not test it and call it 43 to be on the safe side.
