Research for Biology Project for a Semester?

I need to do research for a semester in a biology lab. The research has to involve at the least one metal and preferably using plants. Could anyone give me an idea on how what I should look at to contribute to the science community? The research needs to be original and any help given would be greatly appreciated
 
Search PubMed. You have a relatively broad category. Pick your favorite metal (but maybe try something less popular like Cadmium, Manganese or Aluminum) and then narrow down using a specific type of plant. Genetically you could use Arabidopsis, or maybe a fast growing grass, or heavy metal tolerant plant. The hardest part will be to find a novel project, but being a specific as possible will help.
