If my husband dies, would I be cut off from receiving his benefits?
Here are some specifics. I am 44 and he is 80. (yea, yea, I've heard it all lol) We've been together for 15 years, but only just got legally married in 2007.
We have a 12 year old child. I am listed on his SBP and so is our son. He receives military retirement benefits. He has been collecting Social Security also since he turned 65.
I am a stay at home mom and homeschool my son. If my husband dies would I still be able to collect benefits to support my son and myself monthly? I am worried about this because his health has been going slowly downhill.
