Please share your thoughts on why you think McCain lost and Obama won the November ’08 election.

Because many people thought Bush was running again. The media helped Obama with more favorable articles and the constant fawning. McCain wasn't conservative enough,so I'm not broken up about it.

BY 2012,people will have had enough of Obama anyway.

The media effectively blamed the republicans for the economy, that crashed from Jimmy Carter policies coming to fruit. Even after Republicans really tried to stop the economic downfall in 2004 and were shouted down by the Democrats

The media effectively killed legitimate conservative candidates in favor of McCain. During the republican nomination process the media blitz in favor of McCain was incredible, then once nominated he was a jerk in the media's eyes.

McCain was not conservative enough to bring out the vote.

Not considering politics, people were wanting a change from the way they saw Bush running things. How much more can you change when choosing Obama? White-Black That was the most in your face change of the election so the U.S population gravitated toward him.

Basically, He wasn't a Bush look alike

To the person that stated 10 million conservatives stayed home.

No, 10 million REPUBLICANS stayed home, that doesn't mean they were conservatives.

Palin was the biggest killer of McCain's chances.

Prior to her, McCain had a shot at the independents and even moderate democrats. Had he chosen a moderate the jump you saw when Palin was first announced would have lasted longer. It dropped so fast because people learned more about her.

How can you say with a straight face that McCain wasn't conservative enough when he was chosen by the republican party? If the republicans didn't want someone more conservative how the heck do you think the rest of the country would vote?

It boggles the mind that so many people totally disregard what anyone else thinks. The conservatives think that everyone want's a conservative president, the liberal think that everyone wants a liberal .... the truth is that the people in the middle out number both groups. This time the democrats did a better job of pulling the middle and the moderate republicans stayed home.

It was a matter of who wanted it more.
I'm not referring to the candidates but the party. The democrats got out the votes with a much better campaign, raised a lot more money than the republicans who I think were defeatist from the beginning
